Katrina Kaif To Take Up Sailing

A new hobby has caught Katrina Kaif’s fancy — yacht sailing. The actress, who is a big fan of water sports, wants to learn this sport professionally. A source said, “Sailing as a sports activity has always fascinated Katrina. She always wanted to take lessons to master the art. Abu Dhabi Yacht Show Wooing Premium Customers

The 2nd Abu Dhabi Yacht Show (ADYS), the Middle East’s first and only show exclusively for yachts over 25 metres long, is going all out to woo Saudi Arabian visitors to the exhibition, which runs at Abu Dhabi’s prestigious Yas Marina from February 25-27.

The much awaited industry led IMF “Boating days” boat show which is  scheduled to be held from 29-31 January 2010 is currently facing some choppy waters. Merrill-Stevens faces more layoffs

Healthcare entrepreneur Hugh Westbrook’s plan was to spend $60 million to create 300 jobs by transforming the Merrill-Stevens boatyard into a megayacht hub.
Five years after buying it, Westbrook has laid off all but 28 employees and has shuttered the business, which has been in continuous operation on the Miami River since 1923.
Westbrook said the economic downturn has been brutal on the boating industry.
In the last two years, Merrill-Stevens has downsized from 160 employees to 28, which includes security and backroom people needed to keep the operation going.

Evolution 500 Sportsfisher

Far from being just another 5m fibreglass runabout, Evolution’s 500 Sportsfisher manages to set a standard by which these boats can be judged. While the 5m hull looks pretty conventional on casual inspection, an in-depth perusal discovers lots of little exciting things.
