IMF boating days

The Indian Marine Federation is back with a bang. After a temporary set back the IMF boating days boat show will surely take place in Mumbai starting on 19th March uptil 21st March 2010 at Pilot Bunder, Colaba, Mumbai.

Booking for stalls has already been commenced since 10th March 2010. The IMF boating days was initially scheduled to be held at Cooperage in Mumbai on 29th Jan 2010 and was postponed as legal govt bodies did not find the venue suitable for the boat show as residents around the ground felt it was an attempt to make money out of a public facility by flouting rules on the use of public open spaces meant for sports activity.

The collectors office  had issued a notice to the sports venue to refrain from leasing their property for such a show. Click here to read more.

Events, Marinas galore –
The IMF Boating days is very confident on the event taking place as well as they are certain of a great exhibitor turnout.  The boat show includes lifestyle events around the boat show as well as there is berthing space for yachts which will be available for on water display. So we can expect some big and small boats for visitor viewing.

We think that the current location is much better and would be more ideal for a boat show. It would probably be the 1st venue where the onland and on wanter exhibition would be under one roof.

The Indian Marine Federation (IMF) Boating Days event is scheduled to be held from the 19th to the 21st of March 2010 at Pilot Bunder, Colaba. The proposed flow of events is as follows:

19th March, 3pm: Inauguration of the show
4pm – 10pm: Show open to the public
20th March, 10am – 10pm: Show open to the public
2pm – 4pm: Free entry to school children (school I.D. required)
7:30pm onwards Cocktails and Dinner (by invite only)
21st March, 10am – 10pm: Show open to the public

Just like all the other boat shows the IMF boat show will also have air conditioned area and open raw space which is normally used for exhibiting big yachts and for other on land display.

The IMF boat show will be the 3rd boat show being held in India in this year and and the 4th boat show within 4 months. 2010 has witnessed the Goa Boat Show (GIBS), Mumbai International Boat Show (MIBS) both which have been held for many years now.

No luster in Marketing –

Considering the many boat shows that have taken place back to back, we are uncertain of the exhibitor turn out as well as the visitor response to the boat show. MIBS did witness lots of advertising and branding on billboards, online websites, newspapers and other publications but we havent really seen a lot from the IMF organizers.
