Although there have been speculations & rumors of the boat show not being held this year, we however have received a press release confirming the occurrence of the MIBS 2010.

The Mumbai boat show is being held since the last 3 years in a row and has shown a positive increase in no of growth in the form of visitors and exhibitors.  The MIBS 2010 is scheduled to commence from 18th Feb 2010 to 21st Feb 2010.

The 2008 boat show was impressive and showcased large boats in the exhibition hall as well as a jetty at the gateway.  After the economic downturn MIBS 2009 managed to conduct a boat show and received a fairly positive response from exhibitors and visitors but unfortunately there was no provision of a jetty that year.

More Fire power –

With one of India’s popular publication ‘Spenta Multimedia’ which publishes over 20 custom & 4 consumer magazines recently acquiring the Mumbai Boat Show one can expect additional glitz and glamour to the event not to mention the marketing and advertising for the event.

The Mumbai International Boat Show (MIBS) commenced in 2007. The first ever boat show in Mumbai, MIBS nevertheless succeeded in breaking multiple show records and was even quoted as the best ever inaugural boat show by the media.

According tot the press release, MIBS2010 promises to be a blockbuster with enquiries pouring in from players in the leisure marine space, prospective sponsors and customers!

MIBS 2010 will continue to receive support from the State Government (Government of Maharashtra) by being granted an official ‘Calendar Event’ status. MIBS 2010 will also be backed by the full support of the State Tourism Department (Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation), the Indian Navy, the Mumbai Port Trust and the Yachting Association of India.

Conclusion -

Considering that Spenta Multimedia is backing the event does provide more stability in terms of professionalism, marketing, advertising and ability to draw in greater audiences from a exhibitors end. The only down side would probably be the lack of experience in the yachting industry and the ability to reach out to key untapped exhibitors as well as targeted yachting concerned audiences.

The fact that there the IMF boat show (to be held in Mumbai )which is also slated to be held around that time, just before the MIBS could be a mood damper for  exhibitors as well as visitors as 2 boat shows in the same month would probably not be ideal considering the industry is still very nacent and there isn’t that great a demand for 2 boat shows both providing similar platforms.

As a visitor one can expect more entertainment in terms of celebrity sightings, lifestyle events etc. One can also expect good bargains and competitive as well as multiple offerings as new players have sprung up.

Congratulations on your site, news, and information style.
I would appreciate if you could cover ( anticipate? foresee, maybe ) in more details what the differences are expected to be between the two shows, both from an exhibitor and a visitor point of view.
Your considerations ” …could be a mood damper for exhibitors as well as visitors as 2 boat shows in the same month would probably not be ideal considering the industry is still very nascent and there isn’t that great a demand for 2 boat shows both providing similar platforms.” seems to be puzzling you as well as myself.
Thanks for your attention and best wishes for the coming holiday season.
