74foot Catamaran to be auctioned Online on eBay – Starting at $1

Yes its true.. Sully Sutherlin, president and co-owner of USauctions.com is planning to use the internet to auction his 74foot catamaran off. The boat will be made available for viewing at the Fort Lauderdale boat show in the brokerage section, north of the Las Olas Avenue Bridge. The boat show will be held between 29^th – 2^nd Nov 09.

The starting price of the auction is an unbelievable $1.00 yes that’s one U.S dollar. In a one of kind sale the owner of the boat “Minx” will have no reserve price and will go to the highest bidder. He is open to the fact that he will be loosing money and estimates a price of $700,000 or $800,000 in the seven-day auction.

Sully Sutherlin has been trying to sell this catamaran for over a year but with no concrete results. He hopes that this sale will loosen up the yacht brokerage market where boat prices have fallen around 40-50% and buyers aren’t yet making any purchases still waiting for a further fall. He hopes that his this action will lead to further online auctions of luxury yachts and boats.

Sutherlin’s broker, Walter Strzalkowski, owner of Yacht Search and director of Prout International’s power cat division, says buyers at auction typically bid on the high side of what a boat is really worth, so owners could do a little better than they might in a straight sale.
