Over the last weekend…2 major events were undertaken under the burgee of the respected clubs and associations in Mumbai.

Both Match-Racing Nationals as well as Godrej Cup were exciting thanks to the strong winds and up-tight waters…which favored only the strong and smart sailors from the lots.

MATCH-RACING

The finals of the match-racing event were a quick affair with the best teams of the past winning again.

The venue of INWTC was ideal with the the wind and water conditions in that bay providing a unique platform for competition.

Results of the race are as follows (out of 9 teams) :-

It was a pleasant surprise to see Commodore S. Mongia present in the front row during the prize ceremony, after a long time at a match-racing event.

GODREJ CUP

Results of the Godrej Cup held in the harbour were as follows :-

The Godrej Cup has 2 categories of winners; On-Line Finish and Handicap.

A) On-Line Finish -

Winner : SEAGULL (Army Team of Chaudhary, Singh, Singh)

Runner-Up : GREY EAGLE (Skipper Xerxes Bamboat, Shibani, Maji)

B) Handicap -

Winner : PETREL (Trunal Helegaonkar, Suraj Singh, Rakesh)

Runner-Up : DARTER (Yuvraj Singh, Pradhan, Rajesh Dhulaji)

All in all, this month has been an exciting time on the waters thanks to the wind and water conditions, and make sure that you grab a boat from one of the clubs and be a part of the thrill…
