Many of the exhibitors at this year’s Stockholm International Boat Show, which closed on Sunday, reported strong sales during the nine-day show — despite a 13 per cent decrease in visitors to 95,252 people.

Big boat producers like Nord West Yachts reported two boats sold and the Lagoon catamaran importer, Oxelösunds Båt & Motor, sold one Lagoon 380 and a Saga 315 motorboat.

“Starting somewhat slow, the total impression for Allt för Sjön 2009 gives us good hope for the coming season,” says Thomas Sandberg, project manager of the Stockholm International Boat Show. “Many of the exhibitors have reported business during the week and they made some good prospects which now will be followed up.”

Some of the exhibitors with medium size and smaller boats reported extremely good sales. “We sold nine boats at the show and have some more prospects to work with,” says Niclas Sjögren at Arronet Boats. “It’s mainly customers for our 23 and 27 feet aluminium boats.”

ROW Scandinavia was also very happy with the show results. “Normally we don’t sell as much at the boat shows, but this year we have a very good result with over 19 touring rowing boats in our VagaBond and Explorer series sold to customers, boats built in Sweden and Estonia,” says Win Kotzé from ROW Scandinavia.

Even if boat sales are slowing down in Stockholm, sales of boat equipment are relatively strong thanks to the many boats in Sweden. Several equipment exhibitors remain positive.

“We had a very good show and are very satisfied,” says Johan Josefsson, managing director of Sweden’s largest boat equipment store, Erlandsons Brygga in Stockholm. “We hade the same good sales as last year at our 350sq m stand.”
