Class-1 World Powerboat Championship 2009
The Class-1 Powerboat Championship requires no introduction.
It is to the world of boating, what F1 is to the world of motoring…the penultimate!
Held under the organization of international marine sports bodies such as Union Internationale Motonatique (U.I.M.), World Professional Powerboating Association (WPPA) and International Offshore Team Association (IOTA) – it is followed world-over by millions.
The championship is an international affair with teams and competitors from England, France, Italy, Norway, Qatar, Spain and the UAE competing in eight races across Scandinavia, northern and southern Europe and the Middle East.
Each Class 1 powerboat is capable of speeds in excess of 160 mph/255kmh, weighs approx 5000kgs, is 42ft in length and powered by two 8.2litre, V12s or 9.1litre V8s.
Viewership of it guarantees that you would not only want to be glued to your TV, but at the same time get in to a fast boat and race yourself!
