ISAF Nations Cup : Results and Highlights – DAY 3
3rd day of sailing was all set from the start with the Finals of the ISAF Nations Cup Regional Finals lined-up for the day.

There was a lot of close-quarters sailing…as expected in any match-racing tournament.
Aashim Mongia’s team won the overall standings in the Round Robin winning 10 out of 12 races. In case Farokh Tarapore’s team would have not lost against the Thai team (the big surprise of the tournament)…it would have been a different scenario for Aashim Mongia’s team.

Now Aashim Mongia gets to chose his Semi-final opponent from the other 3 of the top 4 contenders for tomorrow’s proceedings…quite a task consider how close the rest of the competition has been throughout the tournament.

The highlights of this tournament is that there are 2 girls teams, and as the adage goes – every tournament has its ‘CRASH’. The girls team in their tie had a lot of close quarter sailing, until it came to the extent that there was a head-on collision and a lot of damage caused.

The collision came under the scanner of the umpires panel, and there was a hearing between the skippers and the umpires after the day’s proceedings, and Pallavi’s team was awarded a penalty for the incident.

The ISAF Nations Cup Regional Final was between Mahesh’s team and the Thai team visiting. It was a best of 5 races challenge, with Mahesh’s team winning the first 2 races very comprehensively…and in the 3rd race, they managed to get the Thai team disqualified before the start !
CONGRATS MAHESH…and wishing Aashim Mongia’s team All the Best for tomorrow’s proceedings!
