ISAF Nations Cup : Results and Highlights – DAY 1
Day 1 of the ISAF Nations Cup was an exciting beginning with the Round Robin matches springing up a few pleasant surprises…
The day’s proceedings and the races were to start at 11:30am but due to wind conditions, the Flights of races started 2:00pm onwards…and the zeal and energy that was demonstrated by the sailors covered-up for the delay.

The pairings were drawn on a fair draw…and in order to match sailboats and to ensure that the only factor that was important to win was the team – the umpires came up with a nouvelle solution…where each pairing would have to race against each other twice on the same pair of boats – but the second time there would be an exchange of boats.

Running through the races one after the other…the umpires called off the race due to tide conditions.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY
Aashim Mongia’s team was the surprise package of the day…entering the competition at only the 4th rank, they topped the days results by winning 4 out of 5 races.

Also, the Thai team had an out-of-box performance by beating one of the crowd favorites…
SANDBANKS - The tide conditions ensured that our ‘friendly’ sandbanks sprung up a surprise by abruptly ending the day’s proceedings.
PRESS BOAT -You have the harbour’s most favorite boat to cater to your press needs of getting up-close to take the best-of-action snaps.
Throughout the day the sailors shared a wonderful camaraderie and it was fun while being competitive at the same time.
