Genoa Boat Show : 2 Less than a 50

6 October 2008 No Comment

No sooner have the Cannes, Monaco and Southampton boat shows finished, than another big event looms on the horizon, the Genoa Boat Show.

Genoa is one of the biggest boat shows, particularly strong on the Italian manufacturers of course, but with a mind-boggling 2,500 leisure boats and superyachts on the pontoons and on stands from around the world.

This year, yet again the organisers are claiming the show will have more boats and exhibitors, including hundreds of new models.

HISTORY

Fiera di Genova launched the International Boat Show in January 1962, as a small exhibition (30,000 square meters) targeted at a limited public.

Since 1966, the Show has been organised in co-operation with UCINA, the Association of Boat Industries and Shipyards, which is also the Show sponsor. Recognised by IFBSO – the International Federation of Boat Show Organizers –, the show has developed throughout forty-six editions, becoming the leading shows worldwide in the field of pleasure boating thanks to the widest range of nautical products and to an extraordinary exhibiting area: 100,000 square meters of water basin surface and more than 200,000 square meters of pavilions and outdoor areas just next to the main entrance of Genoa’s harbour.

HIGHLIGHTS 2008

The show will offer something for everyone, from kayaks to catamarans, speedboats to fishing trawlers, dinghys to luxury yachts, outboards to cruise ships.

Also on display will be gadgets and equipment boasting the latest cutting edge technology.

This year’s series of conferences and seminars have been divided into four main categories: marinas, super yachts, taxation and training.

A number of meetings will also be dedicated to safety and the environment.

THE BOAT SHOW

With one of the largest displays of yachts of all sizes on the waters, the Genoa Boat Show is the ideal boat show where yacht manufacturers and owners come together in a grand fair-like setting.

The availibility of sea trials makes it a better promise of a boat show in order to get probable clients on to the waters in the boats they love the most.

SAIL GALORE

Sailboats are set to be the stars at the 48th edition of the Genoa Boat Show which runs from October 4 to 12. A new wharf area and basin have been built in the fair area to host 200 sailboats in the water, with 30% making their world debut.
